I'm OG and today I'm going to talk about a player that in my opinion could've been one of the best defensive players of all time if there wasn't for his unfortunate passing, I'm going to talk about the late great Sean Taylor.
Sean Taylor was one of the most gifted athletes of his time and one of the most talented Safeties in the NFL and was an amazing human, sadly that all stopped one day on November 27th as he was robbed and killed. Too early at the prime of his career and only at the age of 24. And many people including me think that Sean could've been the greatest safety of all time, and that he's a big miss because he could've been one of the all time greats, I always have wondered "What If?" What could have happen? what could be?
. So let's talk more about Miami University's own, The Late Sean Taylor!
. So let's talk more about Miami University's own, The Late Sean Taylor!
He started his career in 2000 in Miami University, he played there until 2004, and in those four years he went on to a great start there as he won some incredible honors at those four years. Here are the awards he won:
BCS national champion (2001)
Big East Defensive Player of the Year (2003)
Unanimous All-American (2003)
First-team All-Big East (2003)
Second-team All-Big East (2002)

The four years he played in the university of Miami got him to be picked in the 5th pick of the 2004 NFL Draft, he was selected by the Washington Redskins.
In his rookie season, Sean showed sights of the future as he started to establish himself as a legitimate starter for the Safety position, after great impression in his first games, he got the chance to be a starter. And it paid off, he finished his rookie season with very good numbers on the stat sheet, in 15 games, he had 76 tackles, 1.0 sack, forced 2 fumbles, and 4 interceptions. That was just a little teaser for what's in store for the future from what it looks like, as NFL experts believed that he's going to be the league's future and fans fill with hype around Sean Taylor.

In the following season, Taylor switched his jersey number from 36 to 21, and that number became the thing he was more recognized with. He continued to play in a great work rate, continuing to put on impressive stats throughout the year, as he finished the 2005 season with 70 tackles, 1 sack, 2 forced fumbles and a fumble recovery and two interceptions. That season was another teaser for what's going to happen in the following year, the year Sean made his official breakout and solidified himself as an elite material player.

In the 2006 season, Sean enjoyed his best season in his career, statistic wise he had some amazing numbers as in 16 games he managed to get to overall 111 tackles, 3 forced fumbles. Even though he played in a struggling Redskins defensive unit, Sean's impact wasn't denied and he got recognition, he was named an NFC Pro Bowl for the 2007 Pro Bowl as he replaced the injured Philadelphia Eagles Safety Brian Dawkins. In the Pro Bowl, Sean made one of the most memorable plays of his career as he hit the Buffalo Bills punter Brian Moorman with a vicious hit, the hit created a lot of buzz and discussions.

Then came the 2008 season, in this season many people expected to see Taylor continue to take the league by a storm, but it didn't happen due to the fact that Taylor was injured. But in the 9 games Sean played this season he played in a high level, he compiled 42 tackles and 9 defended passes and forced a fumble. Than few days before week 13, the worst happened.

On November 26th at 1:45 AM, Sean Taylor was shot in the upper leg by an intruder. After the shot, Sean had an extensive blood loss through a severed femoral artery, he died a day later. Sean Taylor has passed away only at the age of 24.
Sean Taylor's legacy is big and very impactful on the NFL, lots of players paying homages to him and continue to recognize his legacy, Sean continues to be remembered time and time by the fans in the football world, his impact on the NFL is very deep and undeniable. There are lots of question of what could happen if Sean would've been alive. one of the biggest is What if Sean didn't die.
I truly believe that Sean was on his way to be NFL's greatest safety ever or one of them, the fact that his career cut so short and that he achieved so much less with all his talent is just very unfortunate, Sean was a gifted athlete with all the tools to be one of the NFL's greatest defenders. In just age of 24 to achieve what he achieved is just incredible. If Sean was still alive and was playing for at least 10 more years, I think he would've been an all-time great for sure. At least in the conversation.
The reason why I chose to write about Sean Taylor today is few days ago I found an article in Hebrew that I did about Sean, and I wanted to "recreate" it in another language. And because Sean Taylor is one of my biggest inspirations in the world of football.
So that's a wrap folks, it was a great honor to write about the late Sean Taylor. Thank you for reading.
