Kenny Omega Path Of Greatness Part V

Kenny Omega, Path of Greatness Part V

Hey everyone, I'm OG and this is my 5th edition of Kenny Omega's Path of greatness, in this part we'll focus on Kenny's road from his match in Dominion vs. Kazuchika Okada until his last title defense at King Of Pro Wrestling

Before I start, I would love to shoutout Kenny, for  all of his likes and comments on my writings, the man is one of the coolest, Kenny is one of the most humble people I spoke with.

Another man I would like to give a shoutout to is my good friend Ophir Fishman, for motivating me in the last few months to continue working on my blog and of course for helping me a lot with my grammar , thank you Fish!

So let's start!

1st Chapter : Dominion, Kenny Omega Vs. Kazuchika Okada, Osaka Jo Hall, June 9th.  Two out of Three falls match, No Time Limit.
After their clash at the previous year in Dominion, Kenny comes to this match with one mission only,  to Claim the IWGP heavyweight belt, and to Avenge the 2 times he failed to capture the belt he was missing.
The match was built slow and it took a while until it got more momentum, Okada earned the 1st fall after about 20-30 minutes, after a while, Kenny captured the tying fall, but then the final sequence happened, that was a awesome sequence, but Kenny came on top after he hits a One Winged Angel to capture this important victory, the ending was indeed an incredible one, a great win for omega but also a fitting way to end Okada's 2 year reign.
After the match, the Young Bucks came to the ring and embraced with Kenny and Kota, they are now a newly formed stable, "Golden Elite".
Dominion was great night for Kenny.. I really looking forward to see what's next.

2nd Chapter, NJPW US Special, Kenny Omega's 1st title defense
On the early part of July, G1Month, we got a G1 Special before the G One Climax ! in the G1 Special, NJPW came to United States and Kenny set to defend his belt for the first time. His challenger is Cody. This match is not only for the belt, is for leadership and for pride and honor!
The match was all out outta control, it was brutal and crazy, in the end Kenny Omega were victorious after the grueling match.
After the match, while Bullet Club came to celebrate with Kenny, a SHOCKING turn happened.. Tama Tonga along with the Tongans ( Haku and Tanga ) came from OUT OF NO WHERE! and turned on Bullet Club! That shocking turn closed out the show, but moment before the show's end, Cody who came to try to save Omega and Bullet Club from the heinous assault he got attacked in the ring too, but after all the assault, Cody shook Kenny's hand and hugged him and they buried the hatchet. That moment closed out the show.

3rd Chapter..G1 Climax !

And here is The G1 Timeline
1st match: Kenny Omega Vs. Tetsuya Naito
Well, that match was pretty good start for both Kenny and Naito, they showed shades of the finals last year, the psychology is off the charts, the match was pretty good, Kenny Won after a One Winged Angel. And Naito looked pretty sharp and strong too.
Kenny's G1 record so far: 1 win, 0 losses

2nd Match, Kenny Omega Vs. Hirooki Goto
Kenny Won, in a pretty good match. Not a lot to mention tbh. Except for the fact that it was Champ Vs. Champ.
Kenny's G1 Record: 2 Wins, 0 Losses.

3rd Match, Kenny Omega Vs. Tama Tonga
2 of my fav BC members.. good match, Kenny won by DQ after Interference.
Kenny's G1 Record turns out to be a 3 wins, 0 losses.

4th Match. Kenny Omega Vs. Juice Robinson
Kenny won, after a hard fought Juice. Juice gave it all, but still wasn't enough tho.
Kenny's G1 Record turns to be 4 Wins, 0 Losses.

5th Match, Kenny Omega Vs SANADA
Sanada for me was the legit favorite to end Kenny's winning streak, but it didn't happen, instead Omega Won, but.. it was awesome match. It was a hard fought victory, with a fighting spirit.
Kenny's G1 Record is not 5 wins, 0 Losses

6th Match, Kenny Omega Vs. Zack Sabre Jr.
A dream match. And it was pretty good. Omega beat Zack after avoiding tap outs. Great match.
Kenny's G1 Record is 6 Wins, 0 Losses

7th Match, Kenny Omega Versus Tommohiro Ishii
Match of the year candidate for me, it was helluva match, very brutal, very intense. Ishii won and finished Omega's streak at 6.
Kenny's G1 Record becomes 6 wins, 1 Loss.

8th Match, Kenny Omega Vs. Yano Toru
The biggest shock of the G1 , Yano Beats Kenny! Just to think about it! The match was pretty good, the interferences of the BC OGZ added depth to the story. They cost Kenny the match, and gave YANO a freaking victory on Omega! Think they should let Omega feud with the three OGz . it has to happen , Elite Versus OGz .
Kenny's G1 Record heading to the last day of the Block competition : 6 wins, 2 losses

9th and final B Block match, The Most Anticipated Match, Kenny Omega Versus Kota Ibushi
Well, that was THE MATCH! Winner goes to the final, to face Hiroshi Tanahashi (A Block Winner) same venue that Omega and Kota made history on DDT by the way..
That match was epic. they went to their absolute limits! I feel so blessed I got to see it live. The story of the match is so deep, two best friends collide once again after all tease years, and for one of the richest prizes in wrestling, the G1 trophy final spot, the match  was amazing, and Kota won after a brutal Kamigoye to end it. And the post match was also so emotional. I loved it.
( Tanahashi won the G1 Finals, and He's gonna face Kenny Omega at WK13, unless a big upset happens during the time before WK13)

Last chapter,  The Road to WrestleKingdom 13!
In this chapter, Kenny goes on his way to keep his IWGP Heavyweight belt around his waist, and Tanahashi goes on a way to keep his G1 briefcase that guarantee the WrestleKingdom main event spot, this chapter goes through three parts.

Part One: September 15th, Hiroshima Sun Plaza , Hiroshima
In the first part of the chapter, we have Kenny Omega's first title defense since the G1 as he defend his IWGP Belt against Tommohiro Ishii, who beat Kenny in the G1 last month to earn that title shot. While Kenny defend the belt against Ishii, Hiroshi Tanahashi in a three on three tag team match, as he teams up with the returning Tomaoki Honma and Togi Makabe and they battle against CHAOS's Kazuchika Okada , Jay White and YOSHI HASHI.
Tanahashi and his partners beat CHAOS in a good competitive match, and Kenny Omega defended his belt successfully against Tommohiro Ishii, in a highly anticipated match, they tore each other apart in that match, the fighting spirit of Ishii just wasn't enough to Kenny's spirit at that match.

Part Two: Spetember 23, Kobe World Hall, Kobe
In that part, Kenny wasn't featured on the card, but Hiroshi Tanahashi defended his G1 Briefcase for the 1st time, as he fought Kazuchika Okada.
They took each other to the limit, the match was great, and Tanahashi was victorious.
After the match, we found out Tanahashi's next G1 Defense opponent, and we found it in a shocking fashion, as Jay White came from out of nowhere, hit Tanahashi with a  Blade Runner and also turned on his Chaos teammate Kazuchika Okada along with Gedo as they attacked him.
After the assault, Jay said that he's challenging Tanahashi for the briefcase at KOPW in three weeks and that he vows to defeat him .

Part Three, King of Pro Wrestling, Ryogoku Kokugikan, Tokyo, October 8th.
At the 3rd part of our Chapter, we finally knew who will go to WrestleKingdom, as Hiroshi Tanahashi defended his G1 Briefcase against Jay White, and successfully beat him.
And Kenny on the other side defeated Cody and Kota Ibushi in a 3 way match for his IWGP Belt, after a grueling battle, Kenny came away with the win, successfully defending the belt for the 3rd time overall.

Now the stage is set, WrestleKingdom 13, Kenny Omega Versus Hiroshi Tanahashi, The Cleaner Vs. The Ace. Two once in a lifetime athletes battle it out for the most coveted prize in our business, the IWGP Heavyweight Championship! On the Grandaddy of them all, WrestleKingdom! In the Tokyodome.

I really looking forward to that match, it's going to be a must see battle!

Thank you all for reading!
